A 31-year-old auto driver, Nzanthung Enny of Humtso village, died of electrocution at a stone quarry in Longsa village on Friday. The victim was declared dead at the scene when police arrived.
Speaking to Nagaland Post, Superintendent of Police (SP) Wokha, T. Relo Aye, said the police received the report around 11 a.m., after which a team was immediately dispatched to the site. Burn marks were found on the victim’s face, body and leg, he added.
Preliminary inquiry suggested that the victim came into contact with a live electric transmission line, though the SP maintained that it was too early to ascertain the exact circumstances. SP further informed that since the family declined a post-mortem examination, the body was handed over to them.
