Reacting to the district administration’s notification to slash autorickshaw fares in Dimapur, the general autorickshaw drivers have questioned why fares of other commercial vehicles such as buses, trucks, taxis and especially the much hiked prices of essential commodities have not been reduced.
President of the general auto drivers, Hokhuvi P Aye and the member Nramo Murry, while stating that the autorickshaw drivers were not against the Regional Transport Authority nor the district administration over the decision to reduce the auto fares, said the same yardstick should be applied on others which were hiked directly or indirectly due to raise of fuel price after which it said would comply to the new rate chart.
It further accused the authority for not doing anything for the welfare of the drivers, who are made to dish out not less than Rs 100 on daily basis to pay various taxes in and around the town.
