The Chief Veterinary Office, Phek, under the sponsorship of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, organised a district-level awareness camp under ASCAD 2024–25, combined with an Anti-Rabies Vaccination (ARV) camp at Lozaphuhu Village, Phek district.
According to DIPR report, the programme was held under the supervision of Chief Veterinary Officer, Dr. E. Mhonlumi Lotha. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Tshokedu Keyho, VAS, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the importance of implementing strong bio-security measures and highlighted the severe economic impact of African Swine Fever (ASF) on pig farming. He urged farmers to adopt preventive strategies to safeguard their livestock and livelihoods.
The camp also focused on zoonotic disease prevention, with Dr. Metshepe, VAS, stressing the importance of regular rabies vaccination in pets.
Following the awareness sessions, a free anti-rabies vaccination drive was conducted for pet and stray animals in the village.
