Awareness campaign on fire safety launched

DIMAPUR: Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services, Government of Nagaland has invited banking institutions, educational establishments, business associations and owners of high rise buildings or shopping complexes to avail its fire safety awareness campaign, which includes mock drills and evacuation exercises.
According to DIPR report, the initiative aims to strengthen the working relationship between the Fire Department and the public while enhancing awareness and preparedness among occupants of commercial and institutional spaces.
The training will cover live demonstrations of firefighting equipment, guidance on fire safety practices, instruction on the use of fire extinguishers, LPG safety measures, mock and evacuation drills, demonstrations of inbuilt firefighting systems where installed, and basic first aid.
The department has drawn up a month wise schedule for the campaign: September 2026: Public and private banks; October 2026: Schools and colleges, government and private; November 2026: Market areas and December 2026: Shopping complexes and malls.
Organisations interested in availing the programme have been asked to submit their requests to the nearest fire station on or before August 31, 2026.
The department noted that in cases where two or more applicants come forward for the same period, it reserves the right to conduct the training at a venue of its choosing.
