Medical department, Zunheboto district conducted an awareness cum medical health camp at Yehemi Baptist Church, Aizuto and Yehemi village council hall on June 3. Speaking at the awareness programme, Dr.Mhonchan N.Kithan, District Programme Officer (NCD) Zunheboto, described hypertension as “silent killer” as most of high blood pressure patients do not show any symptoms.
Dr. Kithan said that hypertension leads to health complications such stroke, heart failure, kidney failure, eye problem and can even lead to death.
He therefore emphasized on the importance of regular blood pressure check-up and to avail treatment on time.
Awareness talk on HIV and AIDS and its preventive measures was delivered by Hokishe Chophy, District Programme Officer, District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU) Zunheboto.
Danny, PMW, National Leprosy Eradication Programme (NLEP) Zunheboto, spoke on leprosy disease and the treatment available for patients.
A total of 46 patients were screened and tested for blood pressure, blood sugar, HIV and AIDS, general medical checkup etc. LLIN mosquito nets were distributed to the beneficiaries by National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme Zunheboto staffs.
Kaito Chophy, head GB Yehemi village thanked the medical department for organizing the awareness cum medical health camp. The awareness cum medical health camp was attended by chairman, Yehemi village council, CHO and staffs of Yehemi Health and Wellness Centre, chairman, Village Health Committee, staffs of Suruhuto Primary Health Centre, NLEP and DAPCU staffs.
