Awareness cum training on important horticultural crops

One day awareness-cum-training on important horticultural crops was conducted by the Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH) Nagaland on December 14 at Dhansiripar under Chümoukedima district.
A press release by CIH Nagaland informed that during the training, senior technical assistant, Mhasizotuo highlighted the farmers on improved canopy management techniques for important horticultural crops in the region like mango, jackfruit, lemon, pineapple and addressed issues related to pest and disease using organic inputs in their orchard management practices. Horticultural specialist, Meribeni Shitiri briefed the farmers on improved nursery management practice for vegetable crops and addressed the important pest and diseases affecting the crops.
Farmers were also made aware about the organically accepted inputs for its management and improving the growth and productivity of vegetable crops. In the last technical session, JRF, Jungshienla Jamir made the farmers aware about avenues and prospects of floriculture among the women youths. Topics on different media preparation for raising ornamental plants; marketing strategy for generation of income through floriculture was also made aware to the farmers. Altogether, 50 farmers participated and interacted with the technical staffs.
