Awareness drive on PMMVY at Chiephobozou

An enrolment and awareness drive on Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) and other women-centric welfare schemes under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) was held at CDPO Office, Chiephobozou, Kohima on July 25.
According to DIPR report, the programme was organised by Kohima District Administration in collaboration with District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) under SANKALP.
Gender Specialist DHEW Kohima, Kesoneinuo Kense, highlighted the features of PMMVY, a maternity benefit scheme to support pregnant and lactating mothers. She explained eligibility criteria including SC/ST categories, persons with disabilities, BPL ration card holders, PMJAY beneficiaries, e-Shram card holders, MGNREGA workers, and others. The scheme provides benefits for the first two live births, with added support for second girl child.
Psycho-social Support Counsellor from Sakhi-One Stop Centre (OSC) Kohima, Medochiinuo Chielie, shared information about services provided by OSC for women affected by violence. She informed that temporary shelter will be available for up to five days for victims and their children, and helpline support is accessible via toll-free number 181 or +91-9485239098.
Online Aadhaar enrolment for girls aged 0–5 and opening of IPPB accounts were also facilitated during the event by District Administration in coordination with Department of Social Welfare and Department of Post. The programme aimed at promoting awareness and access to welfare services for women and girls in the region.
