Awareness drives launched across Nagaland on World Population Day

World Population Day was observed across Nagaland on July 11 under the theme “Healthy Timing and Spacing Between Pregnancies for Planned Parenthood.” The week-long campaign will continue till July 18.
KOHIMA: CMO office Kohima marked the day in collaboration with District Health Society and NHM. DPO RMNCAH+N, Dr. Khrievilhou Nakhro, spoke on family planning methods under Mission Parivar Vikas and SAARTHI ON WHEELS initiative.
Campaigns will cover contraceptive use, spacing, counseling, and male participation. IEC drives including FGD and distribution of FP materials are planned across blocks and villages.
DIMAPUR: Launching the observance at CMO’s office, DPO RCH-UIP Dimapur, Dr. Rongsennunla, stressed on maternal health, gender equality and healthcare access. She cited Dimapur floods as a consequence of population pressure.
Free permanent FP services will be provided at District Hospital and CHC Medziphema, while temporary FP options will be available in all CMO-run facilities. IPC-FGD and SAARTHI awareness activities will be held throughout the week.
WOKHA: A programme was held at the CMO conference hall, with CMO Wokha, Dr. Thungchanbemo Ezung, as theme speaker. He highlighted the importance of birth spacing and routine immunization. He urged health workers to actively promote family planning services at government centres. District Programme Manager, Mhonbeni Ezung, chaired the event and called upon ASHAs to conduct family planning activities during the observance period.
PHEK: CMO office, Phek also observed the day with guest speaker Dr. Pangertemsu (Gynae & Obs, District Hospital). He spoke on reproductive health, family planning methods and sustainable development. Awareness talks, distribution of FP commodities, IEC leaflets in local dialects and ASHA mobilisation activities will be carried out during the campaign.
