Awareness for auto drivers on road safety, welfare schemes

In an effort to sensitize auto drivers on road safety and various welfare schemes, North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) organized an awareness program for Chumoukedima auto drivers on July 30 at Peace Centre Hall Chumoukedima.


A press release from NEISSR programme coordinator informed that at the programme, principal NEISSR and director of Peace Channel Dr. Fr. C P Anto, welcomed the auto drivers and highlighted on various government schemes available for the auto drivers and how to attain them.
NEISSR professor Fr. Robin Asst, spoke on the institution dream for the auto drivers such as drivers network, customers friendly driving, free and fair policy, accident free roads, awareness campaign, providing skill training programs, digital platform, welfare schemes and other income sources for auto drivers and counseling facilities, etc.


Asst. Professor NEISSR Dr.Toli H. Kiba, while speaking on the auto drivers contribution to community, thanked and appreciated the drivers for their noble service and encouraged them to be passenger friendly.


Vice principal NEISSR, Fr. L. Khing, encouraged the auto drivers to honest and understanding towards the passengers, which were more likely to attract more passengers.
Representative of Chumoukedima District Auto Drivers Union, David Lotha, speaking on behalf of the auto drivers, expressed gratitude for arranging the awareness programme.


He congratulated and thanked NEISSR for taking initiative to introduce such programme which was an eye opener for the auto drivers.
The programme was moderated by Thongumo Lotha, MSW 3rd semester and concluded with vote of thanks by Zevisanuo Khate. Altogether 134 auto drivers attended the programme.
