Chakhesang Mothers’ Association (CMA) organised an awareness programme on 33% Women Reservation in Urban Local Bodies election at Clock Tower, Phek on June 4.
According to DIPR report, at the programme, president, Chakhesang Mothers’ Association, Zhonelu Tunyi, said the creation of the 33% Women Reservation in Nagaland was to provide high opportunity for the womenfolk in every field including decision making policies. She therefore called upon the intending women candidates to not contest in the election for her own benefit but for the welfare of every women. She also lauded that the greatest concern of CMA was to conduct a peacefully, free and fair Urban Local Bodies election in the district and appealed to all the candidates to ensure a healthy and peaceful contest that would bring development to the town.
At the programme, self-introduction and speeches were delivered by eight intending candidates from 4 Wards of Phek Town. Secretary, Chakhesang Mothers’ Association, Kezevinuo Krome read out the CMA Resolution at the programme. Speeches were also delivered by president, Phek Town Public Forum, Convenor Ward Chairman Forum, Head GB Union Phek Town and president, Phek Area Mothers’ Association.
