Department of Food & Civil Supplies Mokokchung organised an “Awareness & Sensitization on Fortified Rice in PDS” at the town hall here on Saturday.

The programme was organised by Department of Food & Civil Supplies in collaboration with PATH.
The resource person was State Technical Officer on Fortified Rice, PATH, Shanpanthung Ezung. In his key note address, Shanpangthung clarified that fortified rice was not plastic but a combination of iron, frolic acid and vitamin B, to combat the prevalence of ‘anaemia’.

He said that food grains(rice) were grinded to powder and the needed nutrients were added and manufactured as the natural grains, so that the fortified grains can be befitting for the well-being, especially minors, adolescent girls and pregnant women.

Earlier, welcome note was delivered by N Jamonger Ao and the function was chaired by Among. The programme was attended by fair prize shop proprietors and village council members of the district.
