Department of Geology and Mining organized an awareness programme on groundwater conservation, rainwater harvesting, and artificial recharge of groundwater on June 13 at Seithekiema A and Sovima villages.
The programme focused on the challenges of groundwater exploitation and ways to replenish resources. Officials urged participants to use groundwater judiciously and provided an overview of The Nagaland Groundwater (Regulation and Control of Development and Management) Act & Rules 2020.
The event was chaired by Daventhong, with a welcome address from director, DGM, Dr. Kenyelo Rengma. Additional director Newmai Asingbow delivered the keynote address, while Geologist Myingthungo Jami presented a PowerPoint presentation. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks from ADE Seithekiema A, Er. E Ponthungo Yanthan, and ADE Sovima, Er. Meribeni Jungio.
