Medical Department Wokha in collaboration with district administration organised health awareness programmes on March 12 and 13, 2025 at Aree Old village and Longsachung village.
In a press release, CMO Office, Wokha, informed that CMO Wokha, Dr. Thungchanbemo Ezung, confirmed the activities were organized under the initiative of Deputy Commissioner Vineet Kumar, to raise awareness on diseases, immunization, ante-natal checkups, and health insurance schemes in rural communities. He thanked village leaders for their support in conducting the programs.
During the awareness programs at Aree Old village and Longsachung village, the medical team was led by Dr. Thungchanpeni Patton, District Immunization Officer, Wokha.
She discussed Reproductive Child Health and Immunization. Dr. Benchumi Humtsoe, Medical Officer (Obs & Gynae) at District Hospital Wokha, highlighted the importance of Ante Natal Checkups and family planning. Medical staff from various vertical programs also covered topics such as Malaria, HIV and AIDS, Tuberculosis, Oral Health, Non-communicable diseases, and the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Card.
The awareness program at Aree Old was chaired by chairman of HCMC, Dr. Pithungo Kikon, while at Longsachung, it was chaired by vice chairman of the Village Health Committee, Chenio Ezung. Health screenings were conducted after the program, and district IEC staff distributed Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials to the participants.
