Awareness on ‘livestock insurance scheme’

DIMAPUR: Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary services, Bhandari Sub-division Wokha organised an awareness campaign on “Livestock Insurance schemes under National Livestock Mission (NLM) 2025-2026, at Merapani village and Bhandari Town summer house-cum-guest house on June 23, 2026.
Deputy Director, Dr. Gwazenlo Tep, VS, Veterinary Hospital Wokha, highlighted the Livestock Insurance schemes under the National Livestock Mission. He said that the schemes encouraged farmers to ensure their animals and adopt better livestock management practices and reduce the economic burden caused by unexpected losses.
He also informed on how to avail Insurance policy, List of GPS photograph of the Livestock and documents required. The schemes provide compensation to insured Livestock owners. In the programme, farmers were distributed free basic Veterinary aids. Earlier, the programme was chaired by Dr. Kikali G Sumi, VAS Merapani.
