Awareness on national clean air programme in Dimapur

An awareness programme was organised by the Dimapur district administration under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) for the brick kiln/ sand mohals/ stone crusher units on March 6 at the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dimapur Office.
According to a DIPR report, delivering a keynote address, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) and administrator of East Dimapur Town Council, Mhalo Humtsoe, said the awareness programme was organised to assure better clean air pollution in Dimapur, with the help of the sand mohals/ brick kiln and stone crusher units.


She noted that the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) launched NCAP in January 2019 with the aim to improve air quality in 131 cities (non-attainment cities and a million plus cities) in 24 states and union territories by engaging all stakeholders.
Humtsoe called upon the stakeholders to take responsibility for society and to look for a better way to improve the air in Dimapur. She also informed that guidelines would be issued in a few days, which are to be followed strictly.


During the programme, Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB), junior scientific assistant, Rongsenben Longkumer, highlighted on Mission LiFe, while a presentation on Air Pollution and Regulations Related to Pollution Industries was shared by NPCB scientist ‘B’, Yanathung Kithan. The awareness programme was chaired by Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) Dimapur, Imlijungla Lemtur.
