Awareness on PM Vishwakarma scheme

DIMAPUR: MSME Development & Facilitation Office (MSME DFO), Dimapur, under the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, in association with the District Industries Centre (DIC), Phek, organised a one day awareness workshop on Branding and Marketing under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme at the DC’s Conference Hall, Phek, on August 28.
According to DIPR report, delivering the keynote address, Deputy Commissioner Phek, Rhosietho Nguori, emphasised the importance of money in today’s generation, contrasting it with the simplicity of life in the past. He explained that the purpose of the programme was to enlighten artisans on branding and marketing of products, highlighting three essential traits-idea, skill and marketing-as crucial for sustaining livelihood.
A PowerPoint presentation on product packaging and labelling was shared by Truvi Rhi, Project Head, Centre for Entrepreneurship and Community Development. The presentation showcased various types of packaging such as bottles, bags, cane, tins and tubes, and explained how effective packaging attracts customers. He also introduced participants to labelling requirements and the FSSAI labelling format.
The session on Financial Literacy and Interaction was conducted by the Lead District Manager, SBI Phek, who explained the objectives of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, launched to support 18 traditional trades. He elaborated on scheme benefits, eligibility criteria, and the process of loan and registration.
Under Export Development and QR Code Generation, Atrise Sangtam, Functional Manager, DIC Phek, along with representatives from the Indian Post Office, Phek, briefed artisans on export guidelines and procedures to be followed during product export.
The programme concluded with an interactive session with technical experts, experience sharing, and a display of handmade products by artisans from across Phek district.
