Awareness on promoting Agri-Entrepreneurship

As part of its 100 days action plan, KVK Peren, ICAR-RC for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Jalukie, organized an awareness programme on promotion of Agri-entrepreneurships for FPOs and SHGs on August 21 at the KVK office and an exposure trip for the FPOs on August 22.


The objective of the programme was to create awareness on the importance of entrepreneurship development through agricultural and market linkage under the FPO scheme. District Functional Specialist, Livelihoods non farm, NSRLM-Peren, Amos Newme, discussed agri-entrepreneurship scope and opportunities, including the One District One Product (ODOP) programme and highlighted district-specific crops like king chili, tree tomato, and fermented mustard leaf extract, known locally as ‘ziegicang’.


Food Safety Officer, Dimapur, Samlamgwamlie Michui, outlined the importance of grading, branding, and packaging of agri-products and advised on creating specific brand name with tagline.
Centre Manager, Peren IDAN, Heusuizailie, highlighted various government schemes available to FPOs for the operational activities.


Dr. L. Babita Devi led the participants on an exposure trip to Nagaland State Agricultural Produce & Livestock Marketing Board (NSAPLMB) and Mushroom Production Unit under State Horticulture Nursery (SHN), Chumoukedima. MD & CEO, NSAPLMB Jacob Yanthan and team detailed the activities and facilities available for training and processing of agricultural produce, while Temjen and team from SHN demonstrated mushroom production.


Altogether, 26 CEOs and BODs of 4 FPOs under KVK Peren along with KVK officials attended the programme and the trip. A plantation event as part of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign was also carried out at KVK premises.
