
Eco Club, SASRD conducted an awareness programme on “Single use plastic” under the theme “Minimizing plastic pollution for cleaner environment” in collaboration with SU: SASRD and Atsi and Co. with DC Dimapur, Kevekha Kevin Zehol, as the guest of honour on August 27.
A press release from SASRD Eco Club general secretary, Dokimong N Yimchunger stated that DC encouraged the students and faculty that as responsible citizens they should facilitate actions to mitigate problems caused by plastic.
He also challenged the students to start the change from within and that relying only on government’s order alone was not enough. He further emphasised that it was one’s duty to enlighten one’s immediate friend and encourage them to take up responsibility and action.
NITCA event coordinator, Atsi Jamir appraised that the programme was not only to spread awareness but to put it into practice and to make it happen.
The programme chaired by SU: SASRD general secretary, Atsungpong Longchar began with an invocation by Moangsenla Pongen. Eco Club: SASRD also presented skit, while professor A.K Makar, dean, NU, SASRD delivered the welcome speech. Vote of thanks was delivered by SASRD Eco Club president, Wonchibeni Odyuo.
