
An awareness programme on “tobacco in time of COVID-19” was organised by Western Chakhesang Hoho (WCH) on August 27 at WCH Conference Hall with National Tobacco Control Program Dimapur district, nodal officer, Dr. Reyosalu Lase Vizo as the resource person.
A press release by WCH stated that the awareness was organised as the hoho considered such awareness to be paramount to the community in today’s situation and that community health was the hoho’s first priority.
As COVID19 cases are increasing in the state, WCH said the dangers of tobacco habits especially during this time of pandemic need to be taken seriously, as it can complicate COVID-19 situation both in terms of transmission and co-morbidities.
The release stated that the awareness programme was attended by heads of different frontal organization under WCH, village chairmen, VDB secretaries and pastors from various churches.
