Awareness programme on violence against women

A group of students from North East Institute of Social Science and Research (NEISSR) in collaboration with Sakhi One Stop Centre (SOSC), who work for women’s protection and women’s rights at Sachu colony, Dimapur conducted awareness on violence against women through role playing on April 26.
A press release from NEISSR students and SOSC stated that the SOSC focussed on providing medical assistance, police assistance, psycho-social support, legal aid, shelter and video conferencing to women victims who are suspected of being, or are, under threat of violence. 
MSW students focused on promoting the clear concept of protecting and providing justice to women victims who face violence in different ways: domestic violence, cohabitant living, physical violence, emotional violence, cyber harassment. 
During the play a number of community people witnessed and received the message which the MSW students were trying to convey.
SOSC counsellor, Inakali discussed various forms of violence and how SOSC can be of assistance to the victims. She also stated that one could also dial 181, a toll free number, in order to reach the stop centre. SOSC administrator, Weri, thanked the community people for being a part of the program and also the MSW students for spreading awareness through role play.
