In commemoration of World Zoonotic Day an awareness programme on zoonotic diseases was conducted at Sainik School Punglwa, on Saturday. In a press statement, CoVSc Jalukie, assistant professor, Dr Raghubir Singh informed that the College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, under the guidance of head of the department, Dr. S. Mukherjee conducted an educative lecture under NCC awareness programme. The initiative aimed to educate and sensitize cadets about the importance and prevention of zoonotic diseases.
Dr. S. Mukherjee delivered the introductory note, providing the cadets with a historical perspective of World Zoonotic Day and emphasizing its global significance. He highlighted the critical role of awareness and education in combating the spread of zoonotic diseases, which are infections that can be transmitted from animals to humans.
Following Dr. Mukherjee’s address, Dr. Raghubir Singh presented a detailed deliberation on the various types of zoonotic diseases. He explained the nature of these infections, their modes of transmission, and the potential risks they pose to both humans and animals.
