Awareness and training programme on disaster management and a mock drill was conducted by a team from Civil Defence and Home Guard, Dimapur on April 13 at The Global Open University, Nagaland (TGOUN).
A press release from TGOUN stated that the mock drill was organised by the department of hotel management and fashion technology as a part of their academic curriculum, to enable the students to get hands-on experience.
The students and staff of the university were imparted basic training on first aid and emergency methods of rescue while practical classes and demonstrations on “dos and don’ts” during earthquakes, fire drills and other disaster management scenarios were highlighted.
The release stated that demonstrations on search and rescue techniques were displayed and practical training was also imparted to the trainees by the team.
