AWO, ASU felicitate toppers

Angami Women Organisation (AWO) and Angami Students’ Union (ASU) felicitated High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) toppers from Angami community at AWO conference hall, here, on Saturday.
Speaking at the programme, IG Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) and AGOK president, Dr. Neilasa Sopfü advised the students to remain humble and place God first, in order to succeed in life.
Pointing out that children were “gradually losing” their culture, he asked them to speak more of their languages.
Dr. Neilasa also urged upon the toppers to maintain consistency and in their studies and to value the sacrifices their parents had made. He also challenged the student toppers as well as the parents present to preserve one’s culture and identity in this fast-changing world.
Altogether, 12 toppers were felicitated along with the certificate of excellence by ASU to six HSLC toppers, three HSSLC toppers from the arts stream, one from commerce, and three toppers from the science stream. The program was chaired by ASU education secretary, Thepurüya Theünuo while scripture was read by AWO president, Neilhouzono Nagi and welcome address by ASU president, Bisevi Nakhro.
Greetings was delivered by AWO general secretary, Chozhüle Kikhi and felicitation and blessings were offered by UBC pastor, Rev Dr. Rachülie Vihienuo.
Later, a special song was presented by Thejasenuo Kire and Nourhengunuo Zatsu.
