Alempang Youth Association (AYA) while extending support to Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT) on the mid-day rice scam, said Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung was “too quick to respond to the situation without any rational thought”.
In a press release, AYA president, L. Imkong Lkr and executive member, Supong alleged that DC has “demeaned his status as the head administrator of the district by unnecessarily misleading and threatening the public”.
AYA said that MTLT had done the right thing in reporting the matter to the DC, being the chairman of the District Mission Authority (DMA) by seeking his immediate intervention and necessary actions but instead DC responded with CrPC 1973 and harbouring the erring officials involved to seek legal remedy under Sec 441 of IPC, 1896.
In this regard, AYA has cautioned any such authority “that conveniently misleads and causes unnecessary tensions, thwarting the activities of right thinking citizens and organizations to check corrupt practices in public offices as well as private undertakings”.
