Local and regional taxi verification drive initiated by Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) concluded in Kohima on July 2, with a total of 1785 taxis verified since the process began on June 30.
AYO general secretary, Neidilhoutuo Sechü, informed that while 1785 taxis were registered till day eight of the drive, several cases remain pending due to incorrect or incomplete documents. He informed that vehicle registration numbers issued after July 6, 2022—starting from NL01TA7303 onward—are currently being withheld as per the government order, and a final decision will be made following discussions with the Regional Transport Office (RTO).
Sechü further cautioned that taxis without verified stickers will not be allowed to operate within Kohima. He said AYO and volunteers will continue conducting checks to ensure only verified taxis are plying. He added that although many came for verification, stickers have not yet been issued to all applicants, and further details will be shared after compilation and a press briefing.
