AYO total bandh from 7 am to 3.30 pm

EFFECTIVE IN KOHIMA, MEDZIPHEMA & CHUMUKEDIMA
Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) has called for a total bandh on Saturday(January 7) with effect from 7 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. to be stringently enforced in Kohima, Medziphema and Chumukedima municipalities. 
According to AYO the bandh has been called in view of the “volatile situation” that were developing out of the prevailing scenario. According to AYO, the bandh has been called and to be enforced in order to avoid any “unfortunate event on the final day of filing of nominations to the municipal elections.”
AYO said it upheld the majority view and sentiments of Naga public and also reiterated the resolutions of the APO that any person(s) attempting to file nomination “shall be ostracised as outcast from society by way of excommunication.”
It said even though nominations many have been filed in other districts headquarters, it will never allow the same to take place in the above mentioned places.
AYO has informed that the bandh would be fully restricted and applied on all business establishments, pedestrians and vehicular movements except for medical purposes, paramilitary forces, district administration. While expressing regrets for the inconvenience to the genral public, AYO also issued the advisory to the general public against taking any unnecessary risk. AYO also appealed to all volunteers to wear traditional dress during the bandh.
KVC lauds candidates
Kohima village council (KVC) expressed gratitude to all different political parties and intending candidates in complying with the “election boycott call” by Angami public organization (APO), KVC and various frontal organizations by not filing nominations till January 5. 
KVC media cell said that the inspiration of unity and cooperation has been observed in four districts where nomination was “nil”. It expressed gratefulness to Almighty God for protecting from ugly incidents and untoward situations that may have occurred during the three days of nominations filing process.  Media cell further said that commitment to uphold the rights and dignity of the Nagas are firmed and requested the intending candidates to continue to cooperate, by not participating in the Urban Local Bodies elections with 33% women reservation. 
It further appealed for utmost cooperation in this present situation for better future so that the future of the coming up generations was not destroyed.
APO directs
Angami Public Organisation (APO) has reaffirmed on its decision that it would not allow any person to file nomination paper for the municipal elections till such time a mutual agreement protecting this right is reached. In this regard, APO president Vilhusa Seleyi directed that “those who have filed their nominations are advised to immediately withdraw the same.”
