The conglomerate of people from Phek village under Phek district, settled in Dimapur and known as Western Phekmi Welfare Union (WPWU), celebrated its 25th anniversary at Bade Village under the theme ‘Fostering Unity, Striving for Social Wellbeing and Progress’ on Tuesday. Speaking as speaker of the celebration, NPF party leader Kuzholuzo Nienu (Azo) said one should not think of jubilee just in the biblical context but should be mindful of their attitude, especially the post-celebration behavior.

He emphasized the need for unity to find strength, questioning whether they would unite better or go against each other more.
Azo remarked that being in power represented by their own people was a result of unity and faithfulness, urging reconciliation with God and among themselves. He challenged everyone to excel in various spheres of life while stressing the importance of a spiritual lifestyle for continuous prosperity and not to overlook an elderly advice or word of caution.
He concluded his speech with suggestion of the construction of a common house for the union at Bade village and thanked the Dimapur union for their support towards the union.

Exhortation was delivered by Shevotso H. Keyho, the oldest among the gathering, who discussed the present society’s disconnection from sacred values like fear, shame, and taboo. He urged the youth to consider their role as stakeholders in the future and emphasized the importance of village elders as role models and decision-makers.
He prayed for blessings upon all attendees, closing with a quote from John 8:22.
Short speeches were delivered by president, WPWU, Kuvechilu Huire and Phek village Chairman Chivozo Soho, recalling past achievements and urging for further progress.

The jubilee blessing was offered by pastor Yievesu Vero of Zani Village Baptist Church. Earlier, the jubilee monolith was inaugurated by Azo, and the souvenir magazine was unveiled by Er. Shiekhotso Keyho. The event was attended by the respective village chairpersons of Phek Village, Phek Basa, Chosaba, Surhoba, Kutisu, and Tuzatsu, along with the Phekmi Welfare Union representatives from Kohima and Phekmi Town. Folk songs were presented by Toulazouma and Bade village.
