B&K Memorial Award held in Dimapur

Third edition of late Bendangnungsang and Khriesavizo (B&K) Memorial Award, was held at Diphupar Village Gate, on January 31, organised by Diphupar Naga Students Union (DNSU) commemorating the death anniversary of late Bendang and Vizo, who lost their lives during the Urban Local Bodies election imbroglio. 

Addressing the gathering, former president and tribunal general, DNSU, Pitovi Achumi, stated that DNSU, on 2019 took upon itself the responsibility and privilege to honour the memories of the two martyr’s, who made supreme sacrifice for a cause that was above any individual, and stated that their heroic sacrifice and contribution had to be made known to the generations of Nagas.  

Highlighting about the award ceremony, Achumi maintained that in a world where every action or venture was met with varying range of criticisms and negativity, he stated that the B&K Memorial Award was a humble venture of DNSU to positively acknowledge those personalities and organisation’s contribution in various fields towards the Naga society.  

He however stressed that the award was in no means intended to judge one work over others, claiming that it would be a monumental error on the part of DNSU to choose the best amongst the contributions in various fields, and opined that all contributions were equally important in the attempt to move forward as a society. 

Her further added that the award only seek to acknowledge those personalities and groups in various fields for their invaluable contribution towards Naga society. 

Head GB, Diphupar, Kekhwetsu Khutso, in a short and brief speech acknowledged the DNSU for organising the memorial award in the name of late Bendang and Vizo, and also stated that both martyr’s will always be remembered. He also acknowledged the contribution poured in by mothers of Diphupar. 

Earlier, programme was chaired by Zuthungbemo K Ngullie, while short speeches were delivered by family member of late Bendangnungsang Longkumer and late Er. Khriesavizo Metha. Special numbers by artistes such as Senüto Tetseo, Tutu Terhüja and Muno Shiu was presented, while a melodious opening musical piece, “Arioso”, was played by Atokali Awomi.

President, DNSU, Mhasizolie Angami, delivered the welcome address while benediction was offered by pastor, ABC, N Lipok Jamir. A candle light vigil followed after the conclusion of the memorial award.  

The various awards and awardees are: Promoter Award: Temsusenla Kichu (Fusion Store), Literature Award: Vishu Rita Krocha; Entrepreneur Award: Lichan Humtsoe: (Ete Coffee); Music award: Tetseo Sisters; Art Award: Bambi Kevichusa; Young Achiever Award: Kekhriesilie Rio; Special mention: NK Naga; Green Award: Better Dimapur; Sports Award: Menuopilhou Murice Usou; Humanitarian Award: Kohima Ao Baptist Arogo and Academic Excellency Award bagged by toppers of HSLC and HSSLC 2020.
