BABA celebrates IMLD

Borlengri Ao Baptist Church (BABA) celebrated International Mother Language Day (IMLD) at Church premises on February 21, under the theme “Mother language unites a nation”. 

Addressing the gathering as guest speaker, I Anungba Sanglir, stated that language was God’s gift to humanity and claimed that it was one’s duty to learn how to read, write and speak. 

He maintained that without learning how to speak ones mother tongue, a citizen becomes incomplete. 

He further stated that our mother tongue that identifies us and builds nation, promotes love, resolve conflicts and promotes ideas of brotherhood. 

Speaking in terms of Naga society, Sanglir explained that translation of the Holy Bible into local dialects was the biggest milestone, maintaining that our customs and tradition can also be equally preserved through promotion of mother language. 

Earlier, the programme was chaired by SST, Temsumenla, while invocation offered by pastor, BABA, Temsuwati. 

A short speech was also delivered by chairman, Borlengri Ao Tribal Council, Oyimpong Longchar and a poem on the theme was read by Sunday school students of junior class. 

A short play was also acted by Borlengri Ao Students union while a melodious traditional song was sung by tiny tots Sunday school department.
