Badze Leshüki alternative learning centre inaugurated

DIMAPUR: Badze Leshüki, an alternative learning centre located at Kimho, P. Khel, Kohima Village, was formally inaugurated by Dr. Kekhrie Yhome, advisor for School Education on June 4, 2026.
Established under the Centre for Indigenous Knowledge and Alternative Learning (CIKAL) initiative of the Dr. K & T Keditsu Foundation, the school advances the Foundation’s objectives in education, environmental well-being and cultural conservation. It seeks to integrate indigenous Naga knowledge traditions with contemporary educational approaches grounded in critical pedagogy.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Yhome lauded the unconventional and innovative practices at Badze Leshüki, noting their relevance in addressing contemporary challenges in education. He expressed appreciation for the school’s openness in allowing officers of the School Education Department to observe multigrade learning in practice and stressed the importance of contextual, locally grounded responses to meaningful education.
Founding Trustee Dr. Kezevituo Keditsu formally transferred the school to the charge of the Foundation, marking a milestone in its journey. The institution was consecrated by Rev. Keviyiekielie Linyu, pastor, Ebenezer Baptist Church. Advisor to chief minister and chairman of Village Industries Board, Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu, emphasized the need for education to connect children to their roots, while Dr. Theyiesinuo Keditsu moderated the programme.
Set within a forest campus, Badze Leshüki is committed to nurturing children through play-based, multigrade and transdisciplinary learning. Its curriculum aligns with NEP 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for Foundational Stage 2023, aiming to develop alternative educational models that are locally rooted, environmentally conscious and culturally responsive.
