Bakery licence suspended for flouting food safety standards

DIMAPUR, MAY 30 (NPN)

Food Safety Administration (FSA) Kohima zone has suspended licence of a bakery for serious breach of food safety standards.
In a press release, FSA Kohima zone designated officer (food safety) Kezhangulie Yimchunger stated that the licence was suspended following a complaint regarding foreign object i.e. nail embedded in packaged bread. FSA said it was a serious breach of food safety standards and posed risk to consumer health and safety.
According to FSA, the FSSAI licence bearing number 11921001000095 of M/S Bright Bakers located near I.G.Stadium, Meriema, Kohima was suspended. “This suspension of licence is being served in the interest of public health,” food safety office said.
During the suspension period, FSA said the establishment was directed to rectify and comply with some renovations and relocation to be done within 15 days.
In this regard, FSA has informed bakeries in and around Kohima to adhere to good manufacturing practices and good hygienic practices.
In case of any food related complaints, consumers could report to the food safety section, chief medical officer’s office, Kohima.
