Bambhaniya reiterates focus on NE development under PM

DIMAPUR, FEB 20 (NPN):

Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya, reiterated that the Central government is placing special emphasis on the development of the North Eastern region under the leadership of Narendra Modi.
Addressing a public programme at Aoyimti Village in Dimapur, Bambhaniya, who is on a two-day visit to Nagaland, said the Prime Minister’s vision of inclusive and balanced development has translated into tangible benefits across sectors, particularly for youth, farmers, women and economically weaker sections. She noted that the North East is experiencing renewed momentum in infrastructure, connectivity and welfare initiatives, aligned with the broader goal of building a “New India.”
Highlighting food security measures, the Minister stated that over 80 crore beneficiaries across the country are receiving free food grains under the Centre’s flagship initiatives. She described the programme as one of the largest food security efforts globally and noted that even during the COVID-19 pandemic, distribution continued uninterrupted to safeguard vulnerable households.
Referring to the ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ initiative, she said it has significantly benefitted migrant workers by enabling them to access their entitled food grains anywhere in the country. She added that technological interventions and digitisation have enhanced transparency and efficiency in the public distribution system. Sharing an example from Gujarat, she mentioned the installation of a ‘Grain ATM’ facility in her constituency, allowing beneficiaries to collect rations round the clock.
During her visit, the Minister inspected an Anganwadi Centre, a Health and Wellness Centre, and a project site under the Jal Jeevan Mission at Aoyimti Village. She interacted with local officials, frontline workers and beneficiaries to review on-ground implementation and stressed the importance of strengthening grassroots service delivery.
She also appreciated the active participation of Self-Help Groups and encouraged greater community involvement in developmental initiatives. Lauding Nagaland’s rich cultural heritage and natural beauty, she reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to accelerating development and promoting self-reliance across the North Eastern states.
Earlier, on her arrival, she was received by advisor for Food & Civil Supplies and Legal Metrology, K.T. Sukhalu, and was accorded a guard of honour at the Police Complex, Chümoukedima.
