Nagaland SportsBAMD to organize coaching clinic

BAMD to organize coaching clinic

DIMAPUR, JUL 31 (NPN)

Basketball Association Mokokchung District (BAMD) launched its coaching clinic and scouting programme to identify and train young talents for dedicated junior boys’ and girls’ teams.
The initiative, set to begin on August 2, 2025, at 6:00 a.m., will be held at the BAMD Basketball Court, Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung. Coaching sessions will be conducted on non-working Saturdays starting August 2 and will continue through the Durga Puja holidays. This arrangement is being made to ensure that all selected players can attend the sessions consistently during their school holidays without academic disruption.
This initiative followed the recently concluded 1st Inter High School and Higher Secondary School Annual Basketball Tournament 2025, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from schools across the district.
Based on the performance observed during the tournament, a total of 24 boys and 14 girls have been shortlisted by the Association’s scouting committee. These players were selected for their potential, skill, and sportsmanship demonstrated on court.
Official intimation regarding the selected players has been sent to their respective schools by the Association, seeking support and cooperation in ensuring the students’ participation in the coaching clinic.
Importantly, BAMD has announced that the coaching clinic will serve as the foundation for building a Junior Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball Team, which will be prepared for future participation in the state tournaments and, most importantly, tournaments outside the state. The Association emphasized that gaining competitive exposure beyond the state is essential for the growth and development of players from the district.
The Basketball Association Mokokchung District views this initiative as a long-term investment in grassroots basketball. All selected players are encouraged to participate with dedication and discipline.
The support of schools and parents is also key to the success of this developmental programme. Further updates regarding the training schedule, match preparations, and team progress will be communicated directly to the concerned schools and players.
