A Banana Fibre Extraction Unit along with a value-added production facility was inaugurated in Moya Village, Kiphire, on July 17.
The initiative launched by YouthNet in collaboration with the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) under its Project CARE was inaugurated by advisor, Home Guard & Civil Defence, Fire and Emergency Services, Relief & Rehabilitation, S. Kiusumew Yimkhiung.
The unit is part of a skill training programme aimed at empowering rural livelihoods through capacity building for women artisans under the Kiphire Banana Fibre Cluster. The project is expected to benefit around 150 youth and women artisans in the village.
Located in the Pungro Circle of Kiphire district, Moya is part of the aspirational Pungro block. The programme includes training in financial management, SHG and cluster development, product compliance, branding, packaging, pricing, and other essential skills to help participants build sustainable and market-ready enterprises. The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Vikram Kumar, Assistant Manager and Branch-in-Charge, SIDBI Nagaland, along with his team, and Nuneseno Chase, director of YouthNet, accompanied by YouthNet representatives.
