Banuo Jamir appointed as Nagaland Lokayukta

Nearly two years after the first Lokayukta of Nagaland, justice Uma Nath Singh resigned, Nagaland governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi, on the recommendation of the Selection Committee, has appointed former Nagaland chief secretary Banuo Z. Jamir as the Lokayukta of Nagaland with effect from taking oath of office before the governor of Nagaland.
As per the notification, dated December 20 issued by the department of Personnel & Administrative Reforms (Vigilance Branch), the terms of office and conditions of service shall be as stipulated in Section 5 and Section 7 of the Nagaland Lokayukta Act 2017 (Act 1 of 2018).
As per Section 5 of the Act, it states that Lokayukta or Upa-Lokayukta shall hold office for a term of five years or until the age of 70, whichever is earlier.
