Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) was officially launched at DC Office Complex in Noklak, on September 2, in the presence of officials from various departments, Civil Society Organizations, students, and teachers.
A press release from IA Noklak, informed that DC Noklak Arikumba in his address, emphasized the objectives of BBBP, which included improving child sex ratio, promoting gender equality and women empowerment, eliminating gender-biased practices, ensuring the survival and protection of the girl child, and encouraging education and participation of girls in all spheres of life. He urged all stakeholders to lend their full cooperation to ensure the successful implementation of the scheme.
Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Noklak Vikhoto Richa, highlighted the district’s action plan for BBBP, which primarily focused on creating awareness, promoting girls’ education, empowering women through skill development, improving healthcare access, and sensitization in the district.
He also announced the establishment of the late Supou Memorial Award for meritorious achievers under BBBP Noklak, to honor outstanding girl students in Class 10 and Class 12 under the district.
Representatives from various line departments, medical officer Dr. Chongnya and CDPO Noklak Bendangsunep, also delivered short speeches, shedding light on the different schemes implemented by their respective departments to support women and girls.
President of Khiamniungan Menyiu Hoikam Chongkoi and Archery coach, and district SVEEP icon Songmao also addressed the participants and motivated them. The event was chaired by EAC Noklak Kathyinla and a special performance by Tsuliam of GHSS Noklak.
