BBBP sensitisation conducted at Chessore town

District administration Tuensang conducted a sensitisation programme for adolescent girls at Chessore on December 21 under Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) campaign at office complex of SDO (C). 

A press release from SDO (C) office Chessore stated that, in the keynote address, Toking Yimchunger EAC Chessore highlighted on the nationwide BBBP campaign which started after sharp decline of girl child population in comparison with the male counterpart. 

He said that the key factor were discrimination against girl child, domestic and gender abuse, education neglect etc. He highlighted that unlike societies in the rest of the country, Naga society has seen less of various discriminations against girl child, yet the state still had miles to catch up to bring the girls at par.

Specific awareness on girl’s hygiene while comprehending the physical biological development as girls attend adolescent age was discussed by Torila, anganwati worker Chessore with all the girl participants. 

With a view to bring together adolescent girls creating a platform where they can share awareness amongst peer members, three Adolescent Girls Club were also formed under Chessore town with anganwati and ASHA workers assigned as the leaders of the club. Adolescent girls were also provided with sanitary pads coordinated by anganwati and ASHA workers.  

Staff from PHC Chessore, anganwati workers, ASHA, Police and district administration along with 65 participants attended the programme chaired by S. Wongchuba P/T GPS K. Longsor.
