Benreului Baudi Nagaland (BBN) and Benreu Village Council (BVC) held a commemorative programme, Wednesday, to mark the 50th Anniversary of martyrdom of five unarmed NNC workers who were brutally killed in 1965 while on a peace mission.
Rev. Deuhing Nsa (96-year, oldest in Benreu) led the commemorative programme to pay homage to the five martyrs and sons of Benreu who were tortured to death by Gaindinliu’s kampai army in 1965. The programme was attended by leaders and members of various organizations and neighbouring areas. A monolith in memory of the five martyrs was also unveiled.
