As part of the “100 days Smart City Special Initiative Campaign on Sanitation”, the Green Team Kohima in collaboration with the Kohima Smart City undertook social work and beautification drive at the box cutting area of Kohima Town on July 27.
A press release by Kohima Smart City Development Limited (KSCDL) stated that during the social work, volunteers collected garbage and removed weeds along the box cutting pathway and from SKV fuel station to the box cutting junction.
The team also installed three dustbins along the pathway to check littering by pedestrians and visitors.
Recycled and painted tyres were creatively converted into hanging pots and hung onto the retaining walls with flowers and green plants, stated the release.
KSCDL said the team plans to identify more areas around Kohima town and undertake beautification works.
Meanwhile, the team has appealed to all citizens to not litter and spoil or take away the plants and pots.
