Nagaland’s Bendangsunep Longkumer delivered a standout performance at the three-day ICN India Goa Supershow 2025 – The Greatest of All (G.O.A) – clinching two gold medals and one silver. The event was held in Goa from November 27 to 29, and Longkumer received a warm reception from well-wishers on his arrival here Monday, at Dimapur Airport.
Longkumer topped the Men’s Physique (Novice) and Men’s Classic Physique (Novice) categories, while securing silver in the Men’s Bodybuilding (Novice) division.
Speaking to the media, the athlete said he was proud to return with three medals from the categories he competed in. He credited his success to the guidance of his coach, Moakumsuk Ozukum, and the unwavering support of his family and friends.
Sharing insights on his preparation, Longkumer said the journey was both “challenging and enjoyable.” He revealed that he had aspired to compete since 2022 but was held back by financial constraints. With support from his parents this year, he finally entered the national-level stage and trained intensively under Ozukum, achieving a remarkable transformation in just two and a half months.
Longkumer hoped his achievement will inspire fellow youths, reinforcing that “with determination, nothing is beyond reach.”
Coach Ozukum, while celebrating his trainee’s success, also highlighted the broader financial struggles faced by Naga athletes. He noted that bodybuilding is one of the most expensive sports and urged the sports department and concerned authorities to address the financial hurdles limiting talented youth across the state.
