As part of ‘Best Friends Forever (BFF)’ student exchange programme, the students from Nagaland and Pune (Maharashtra) had gone for adventure trek to the Dzukou Valley along with officials from Assam Rifles, teachers and parents of the students.
According to PRO IGAR (N), it was a unique experience for the students of Pune to climb up the height of 2400 meters and get a scenic view of the valley.
“They were excited at the sight of frozen nullahas and ice en route,” PRO said, adding that Ms Tanvi Gadgil from Pune had commented “It’s Heaven on Earth, I am a Mountaineer and visited Everest Base before, but I am mesmerized after witnessing this beauty of Dzukou”.
On the next day, the students also visited the State Museum, War Cemetery, WW-II Museum and Kisama Heritage Village.
They were impressed to know the Valor, Camaraderie and Bravery of the Nagas and Indian Army, said PRO.
Later that day, presentation on “The Battle of Kohima” was made, where students were enthralled and spellbound after listening to the heroic story.
On December 30, the students visited Kohima Orphanage and presented gifts to the kids. They also visited local market and handicraft outlets of Kohima.
In the evening, students organized a cultural programme at HQ IGAR (North) and displayed the rich culture and heritage of both the states, followed by camp fire and dinner. The occasion was graced by IGAR (N) Maj Gen MM Naravane and Mrs MM Naravane, various dignitaries from civil, teachers, parents and officers & ladies from Assam Rifles.
