New Delhi, July 18 (IANS): Bharat Tex 2026, the third edition of India’s flagship textile exhibition, attracted over 6,000 international buyers from more than 130 countries and around 1.3 lakh trade visitors, while generating investment commitments worth over Rs 14,300 crore, according to the government. Held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, the event featured more than 1,600 exhibitors, over 11,000 buyers and facilitated upwards of 28,000 business-to-business meetings along with more than 100 government-to-government and business-to-government interactions. Spanning 1.6 million square feet, the exhibition showcased over 20,000 textile products across the entire value chain, including fibre, yarn, fabric, apparel, home textiles, technical textiles, handlooms and handicrafts, emerging as a major platform for global commerce, sustainability and innovation in the textile sector.

The event also highlighted India’s rich cultural heritage by placing traditional art forms and handicrafts before global audiences. Among the featured crafts was Bihar’s Tikuli art, known for its vibrant colours and intricate enamel work, while the Niryaatak Handloom Cooperative Society Limited, representing around 120 weavers, showcased home-based handloom products through a subsidised stall supported by the Handloom Export Promotion Council. Running alongside the exhibition, Indie Haat 2026 at the National Crafts Museum brought together 48 artisans and weavers along with 12 design-led brands, showcasing crafts such as Gulabi Minakari, Dokra, Usta Kala, Pichwai, Sozni embroidery, Blue Pottery, silver filigree, Cheriyal painting, Mata Ni Pachedi, papier-mâché, Bagru block printing, Jamdani sarees, Muga and Eri silk, and Odisha Ikat. The strong international participation reflected growing global confidence in India’s textile industry and its blend of heritage, craftsmanship and modern manufacturing capabilities.
