Bharat Vistaar phase-1 launched at Jalukie

DIMAPUR: ICAR-KVK Peren, joined the nationwide launch of Bharat Vistaar (Phase-1) at the Community Hall, Veterinary Colony, Jalukie, on February 17.
‘Bharat-VISTAAR’ (Virtually Integrated System to Access Agricultural Resources), launched by Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, is an AI-powered multilingual advisory platform announced in the Union Budget 2026-27, to establish a dedicated Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) for the agriculture sector.
It will provide farmers with timely, personalized, and actionable information. It also features ‘Bharati’, a speaking AI assistant that interacts with farmers in their local languages, overcoming literacy barriers.
The programme was graced by Jalukie Councilor Ward-1, Iruga, who urged farmers to take advantage of the AI-powered unified digital system that provides information on government schemes, weather forecasts, mandi prices and other services.
Altogether, 31 farmers, including VIPs and officials, attended the launching programme.
Delivering the keynote, KVK Peren principal scientist and head, Dr. K. L. Meena, elaborated on the objectives of Bharat Vistaar Phase-1 and encouraged farmers to utilize the facilities for their benefit. CTO (Soil Science), Z. James Kikon, also exhorted farmers to adopt scientific technologies offered by KVKs to empower themselves with the latest advancements.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Technical Officer, Wati Longkumer.
