The BJP on Sunday appointed Bihar cabinet minister Nitin Nabin as its national working president with immediate effect. The decision was taken by the party’s parliamentary board, BJP national general secretary Arun Singh said.
Nabin, 45, a five-time MLA from Bankipur in Patna and the current Bihar PWD minister, is among the youngest leaders to hold the post and is seen as a likely successor to BJP president J P Nadda, whose term has been extended beyond January 2020.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Nabin, describing him as a hardworking karyakarta with rich organisational and governance experience, and expressed confidence that his energy and dedication would strengthen the party.
