English translation of Tsüngchi Samanir Ka, a biography of Er. I. Lanu Toy, retired chief engineer, Power and father of the present chief secretary of Nagaland, Temjen Toy was released on the occasion of his 93rd birthday at Kohima on January 27.
According to DIPR report, senior pastor Kohima Ao Baptist Church, Rev. M. Asangba Longkumer formally launched the book and offered the dedicatory prayer while director IPR, Limawati Ao chaired the programme.
Giving an insight into the book that was launched, Limawati Ao said that the book was not just the story and achievement of Er. I. Lanu Toy but also an account of the times in Nagaland in the 1930s to 80s. He also said that the book was a perception into how the Power department evolved and struggled during its early days and an insight of how the Doyang Hydro Electric Project was nearly abandoned but finally completed.
Speaking on the occasion, Lanu Toy expressed happiness on the occasion of his 93rd birthday, coinciding with the release of English translation of his biography “Tsüngchi Samanir Ka”. He thanked the engineering fraternity, family members and other well wishers for gracing the programme. He said the book contains a little bit of his experiences in life and works over the years. He also expressed his gratefulness to the author of the book for taking the initiative and making it into reality. Er. Khose Sale (Rtd) while speaking on behalf of the Power department described Toy as a man of principle and God fearing. Toy is a role model for all engineers and many perceive him as a mentor because of his statesmanship and high professionalism in power sector, he said. It was during his time the massive electrification work was done in the districts.
Former MLA, Takamasa who spoke on the occasion said the contributions and services rendered by Er. Lanu Toy for the people of Nagaland was commendable.
Principal secretary, IT&C, Power, K. D. Vizo while speaking on the occasion said the Power sector in the state has reached a new heights because of the immense contributions by senior engineers in the department.
Er. I. Lanu Toy was born to Imchaba and Kariben of Changki village under Mokokchung on January 27, 1927. He is blessed with one son Temjen Toy presently the chief secretary of Nagaland and two daughters. The book was first published in Ao language which was released on January 27, 2019, authored by Repalemzüng Longkümer.
