Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) party functionaries of 38 A/C Longsa unit have condemned the alleged threat by some supporters of NDPP Wokha village unit on BJP supporters of Wokha district.
In a letter addressed to deputy commissioner Wokha, president BJP Longsa village unit Thungchanbemo Ezung, youth president BJP youth wing Longsa village unit Yanpvuo Kikon and secretary BJP Longsa village unit Meribemo Ezung citing reports from “reliable sources” alleged that some supporters of NDPP Wokha village unit had threatened BJP supporters of Wokha district with dire consequences.
Pointing out that the allotment of BJP party ticket was solely the decision of the BJP central leadership and the parliamentary board committee. Therefore, based on some unfounded assumptions, the BJP supporters of Wokha district cannot be threatened and intimidated, they said.
The BJP unit therefore urged upon the DC to enforce the rule of law in the district to ensure that no individual or family was threatened under any circumstances.
It further reminded that Wokha town was home to the Lothas in general and that everybody had the right to live freely without any fear whatsoever.
The unit cautioned that it would initiate appropriate action if no positive response was received, as deemed fit, by the concerned authority and that the BJP unit should not be held responsible under any circumstances.
