BJP can’t be under the same roof with Cong: Madhav

BJP General Secretary in-charge of North East, Ram Madhav made it clear that the party still stood by the earlier statement made by its president Amit Shah during his visit to Nagaland, that there was no possibility of BJP and Congress coming under the same roof.
Madhav said this during the press conference at Hotel Acacia here, Monday.
He reiterated that though there was no question of BJP and Congress going together under the same banner yet since Congress legislators in the NPF-led DAN government have been suspended by their high command, BJP would “wait and watch”.
Asked if BJP would withdraw from the government if the suspended legislators continue as Congress , Madhav said he would come and talk to the media persons himself if such a situation arose.
On the allocation of portfolios to the BJP legislators, where some had reportedly expressed unhappiness, Madhav said he would seriously take up the matter with the chief minister T.R. Zeliang.
On the Naga political issue, he said the Modi led NDA government was serious about a solution acceptable to all, in a time bound manner.
Earlier during the party meet, Ram Madhav, speaking as the chief guest said Modi’s government had achieved more than any other previous Prime Ministers in 12 months.
According to BJP Media Cell, Madhav said the Modi’s government had improved the economic condition of the country, even overtaking the growth of China. He said this was not the case one year earlier when the country’s economic was in a pathetic state.
Taking a jibe at Congress over the Land Acquisition Bill, he said “theirs was empty speeches and slogans” while the BJP was for overall infrastructural development across all sectors.
Speaking on the future , Ram Madhav said his party’s main focus was to bring an end to the Congress’ political culture thus freeing the country from corruption. He said Nagaland was the third state after Andhra Pradesh and New Delhi to have a Congress-free party and lauded the NPF-led DAN government for achieving this feat successfully.
Further, the Media Cell said NPF vice president T.L. Merry, who spoke on behalf of NPF Central, extolled the NDA government at the Centre on the successful completion of one year in office under the leadership of Narendra Modi.
Merry said, though NPF had gone through a turbulent time in the past months the storm had settled and expressed hope that with the support of the NDA government, the situation in Nagaland would improve.
According to the Media Cell, Merry said the NPF’s objective of uniting all parties under one banner was achieved and that once the suspended Congress legislators were disqualified, both NPF and BJP would benefit and simultaneously strengthen DAN.
Those present at the function included Minister for Transport and IT, Paiwang Konyak; parliamentary secretary for Labour, Employment (Skill development), Border Affairs Mmhonlumo Kikon; Adviser Corporation, Imtilemba Sangtam and Adviser, Treasuries and Accounts, Relief and Rehabilitation, Dr. T. M Lotha besides various NPF officials, NGOs and party workers.
State BJP unit president Dr. Chuba Ao delivered the welcome address while BJP general secretary in-charge of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, Prashant Arora pronounced the vote of thanks. The programme was chaired by BJP Nagaland general secretary and spokesperson James Vizo.
The national BJP general secretary Ram Madhav arrived Dimapur to join the Nagaland BJP unit’s celebration of one-year of the Modi-led NDA government on Monday and left the same day after the function.
