DIMAPUR, MAY 27 (NPN): BJP on Wednesday formally handed over its party ticket to Kezhangutuo Zhotso for the Chümoukedima Town Council (CTC) Ward No. 11 by‑election at the BJP 4 Ghaspani‑I Mandal Office, Thilixu.
Addressing the gathering, minister for PHED & Cooperation, Jacob Zhimomi, said BJP, being a national party, selects its candidates through the central high command and urged members to respect the decision. Expressing confidence in the chosen candidate, he described Zhotso as a competent contender and voiced optimism of winning the bye‑poll.
Jacob reminded party workers that Nagaland continues to depend on support from the Centre for development, stressing that cooperation with Delhi remains crucial. Reiterating BJP’s alliance with NPF in the state, he called for a friendly contest based on manifesto and performance, cautioning against violence or intimidation. “This is not just a moment of power and authority, but one of social responsibility,” he said, urging discipline and humility among party members. Delivering a short speech, BJP state vice president and district in‑charge, Zaremo Kikon, thanked all aspirants who had applied for the ticket, noting it reflected the party’s growing base of committed leaders. He clarified that the ticket was not issued out of partiality and urged members to unite behind the chosen candidate, stating that the real contest was against the opposition.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by BJP 4 Ghaspani‑I Mandal president, Vitoho Y. Zhimomi, invocation was offered by general secretary, BJP Chümoukedima unit, Ghonito Achumi, welcome address was delivered by president, BJP Dimapur unit, Shekishe Achumi, and vote of thanks by president, BJP Chümoukedima unit, Khriesavilie Yhashu.
