BJP Nagaland unit and JD (U) unit has congratulated chief minister T.R. Zeliang for winning the February 5 confidence motion on the floor of Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA).
In a press release, BJP unit president Dr. M. Chuba Ao said with all the 59 elected members (excluding the Speaker) including the opposition Congress, voting in favour of the motion irrespective of the party and coalition affiliations was “unique”.
Stating that the remaining part of 12th NLA would be without opposition, Dr. M. Chuba Ao said that the “cent percent outcome of the result was unprecedented in the history of NLA”.
“It was the first of its kind in the country thereby setting precedence in the parliamentary democracy of India”, he added.
For the second time, the NLA created “history of unity and solidarity among the elected members”, he pointed out. Earlier in 2010, he said that the 11th NLA under the aegis of Joint Legislature Forum (JLF) passed a unanimous resolution on Naga political solution where all 60 members had appended their signatures.
With these two incidents, he said it “plainly proved that unity among the Nagas is not impossible if there is political will”.
JD (U): Janata Dal (United) Nagaland unit has also congratulated T.R Zeliang for winning trust vote in the assembly with absolute majority.
JD (U) president, Mhonjan Lotha in a press release stated that the need of the hour at this very juncture is to have a strong government in the state to usher peace and development including the solution to the Naga political impasse. JD (U) further urged NPF party to uphold the DAN common minimum program in letter and in spirit.
