New Delhi, Sep 21 (PTI): The BJP on Monday said about 1,500 youths participating in the bike rallies from Gujarat’s Vadnagar to Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh and from Varanasi to Vadnagar are conveying a “powerful message” of public participation and a sense of duty to society by engaging in various service activities along their way.
“It is the fifth day of this journey today. It is a unique expedition in which about 1,500 ‘seva yatri (service-oriented)’ bikers are carrying out various service activities, stopping at various locations along their route,” BJP chief spokesperson Anil Baluni told PTI.
On September 17, Union Home Minister Amit Shah flagged off a bike rally from Vadnagar in Gujarat to Varanasi, launching the BJP’s month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday and the completion of his 25 years in public life as the head of the government.
The same day, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off a similar bike rally from Varanasi to Vadnagar, launching the BJP’s ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ in the state.
While Vadnagar is the birthplace of Prime Minister Modi, Varanasi is his Lok Sabha constituency.
Baluni said the two bike rallies, flagged off simultaneously on September 17, are being conducted by youths in 10 groups along 20 different routes connecting Vadnagar and Varanasi.
Each of these groups comprises 50 to 60 young people hailing from states such as Tamil Nadu, Assam, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat, Bihar, and the Northeastern states, the BJP MP added.
“They are traversing 10 states, 193 districts, 773 tehsils and 1,159 villages. This journey is not merely a means of public outreach but a nationwide pledge to translate the spirit of ‘Seva hi Sangathan’ into ground-level action,” Baluni said.
“By honouring sages, saints and sanitation workers along the way, these young volunteers are conveying a powerful message of public participation and a sense of duty to society with the core objective of contributing to nation-building through direct engagement with the people,” the BJP leader added.
BJP Yuva Morcha president Hemang Joshi said this ‘Seva Sankalp Yatra’ is not merely a journey across the length and breadth of the country but a journey of “commitment, compassion and collective responsibility”.
“As Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) karyakartas travel through villages and communities, they are turning the spirit of ‘seva’ into meaningful action through cleanliness drives, tree plantation, ‘jan samwad’, ‘bhajan gayan’ and service for the senior citizens,” he said.
For the BJYM, the youth wing of the BJP, this bike rally is an opportunity to transform “seva (service)” from a slogan into a grassroots movement with young karyakartas working alongside people and communities, Joshi added.
